Even though Ioved my life in the film and advertising industry, as a Producer and Managing Director, after 25 years I finally had enough of all the stress and noise and decided to give the whole lot up! It was both liberating and terrifying, especially as I had no clear plan of action in mind...

So, in search of inspiration, I set off on a six week solo road trip up the west coast of Scotland weaving in and out of the Outer and Inner Hebrides in my 1970’s VW campervan with my cat and my road bike as my trusty companions.

My 40 days and 40 nights in the van were life affirming and totally life changing. Nature, silence and adventure are good for the soul. My journey enabled me to firmly close the previous chapter and to open the next one with a smile on my face.

During my road trip I found Knoydart. A remote peninsula on the west coast of Scotland, aka UK's last great wilderness. With no roads in, no roads out and access only by boat, this magical place is home to 111 residents.

I am now lucky enough to be one of those residents and I run The Knoydart Retreat Ltd. from there.

Let the next adventure begin...
